Thank you to everyone who has donated to help me publish my poetry book. We’ve surpassed $1000!!! This feels so huge and exciting. Fundraising is an edgy endeavor, and it’s invigorating to see it working.
I’m working through the last section of poems, editing, rewriting, and rearranging, but sensing the collection getting closer and closer to being where I want it. The work is slow and sporatic but happening!
Here is a little dump of lists on other big and small updates from my corner of the world.
Life updates:
We moved into a beautiful house near Weaverville in February, and it feels like such a good fit for us! It has a spiral staircase which our dog cannot navigate so we go outside a lot walking her around to the upstairs entrance. It’s good to have extra reasons to get outside.
My wife Morgan and I are in the process of changing our last names to May!
I’ve been enjoying horseback riding lessons that Morgan gifted to me for my last birthday.
Morgan turned 30 and is only getting more beautiful.
I am cleaning the bathroom every week, and it has really improved my quality of life inside my house.
I’m making jun! (which is kombucha’s cousin made with green tea and honey)
Our neighborhood community garden is currently growing: lettuce, cilantro, beets, peas, carrots, cabbage, kale, collards, squash, tomatoes, peppers, basil, and lots of flowers.
Things I’m feeling buoyed by:
My vet who answers questions and consults without charging me.
Eat to Go Deep, a nutrition course of sorts that Morgan and I are participating in
Sunshine
Eating wild things
Pre-cooked sausages and pasta for lazy cooking days
Libraries
Walks with friends
Imperfect details to balance out so many perfect social media posts
a 13-inch tear in my favorite sheets
an essential button fell off my new dress
a squirrel has been sitting outside out bedroom window in the morning, gnawing on a bone
I still don’t own a vacuum
the second spray mop I bought broke
I accidentally stepped on my cat’s tail
my car’s check engine light is on again
as soon as I got over my cold this week, Morgan got sick
And some good things I’ve been reading/listening to:
Nightbitch by Rachel Yodder
The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley
The Telepathy Tapes by Ky Dickens
Becoming Wise by Krista Tippett
